Spare Wheel Holder Attachment

Gents in the boot at the LHS is what I think is the female connection for the bolt that holds the spare wheel in place. Can anyone tell me what the female part is fastened to as mine appears to be loose! I don't use it to secure the wheel but I would like to fix it. Is it welded or bolted to the chassis. A photoof the underside would be great. I am assuming the area its fastened to it a Bu**er to get at as its at the rear of the fuel tank and I arn't planning a body off any time soon! TIA Damon

Mine also is loose and I am still kicking myself that I forgot to fix it while the body was off

I don't think there's any reason you can't glass it in from the top if you pull the carpet back.

Or, as its already loose, remove it, ditch the spare, carry
a tyreweld can and mini compressor and marvel at the
space you have created... Not to mention the performance boost
resulting from your weight sheading upgrade

Anyone actually used a can of that stuff successfully ?

I think it was wiz we watched pump a can into his tyre in France last year and all it did was ooze out the hole !

I successfully waterproofed my boot with it at S Club last year!

I found it was better to move the spacesave to just above the radiator, just like the old M series did

I carried a can of tyre weld for many years but never had a chance to try it.

One day somebody ran into the back of my at traffic lights. The tyre weld had a good go at sealing the inside of the canvas bag it was in, but didn't quite manage it. Punctures are so rare these days that I reckon I'll just take my chances and call a low loader if I get a flat.

Apologies to the op if we've gone a bit off thread, but what do you all need to put in the boot that takes up so much room you can't fit in a little space saver spare, golf clubs ?

I've used tyreweld successfully in the past where I got a puncture, but of course they wont repair large holes or sidewall splits...

My missus's Mini doesnt have a spare, sealant and pump is all you get... you are supposed to replace the sealant regularly as well.

RAC card as the final backup.

I can get two bags of clubs in the boot of mine, but please don't tell anybody.
