Removing carpet stains (Brake fluid)

I'm after some ideas please. Had a brake fluid leek into the footwell last year and now the 'season' is upon us, I need to get busy with a good clean up of the interior, namely the carpets.

Any suggestions for the best cleaning stuff to use on carpet ?

I think your stuck with that stain from brake fluid, it is a very difficultthing to shift ,i would say that if your carpets are a dark colour you can buy carpet dye of ebay and that works well ,but i would check that your carpets have not rotted on the under side, as i would have expected them to with brake fluid !

ETA: Thinking about it, I could have brand new carpets and leather upholstery for the cost of fuel to visit him in the far east!

Brake cleaner will take it out and is pretty safe on carpets
