Bansko currently has 65km of runs
in 2009 it was granted planning permission subject to heritage approval which would expand the 65km up to 133km

Now in 2011 it's still 65km no idea on the above progress however I have just heard online that there has been a further controversial plan put to planning which the mayor is on the face of it in favour. The plans would increase the total runs to 340km.

So anyone have any knowledge of any kind on this and what is the time frame etc and logically where the runs could be

I went there this year great skiing on 65kms and it had the mens super g FIS championship there too. Snowed every day at least two days were White outs. Anyone else been out there this year?

I bought a place there many many years ago

Use it all the time skiing twice a year and summer hols too.
Last summer aug went out for 16 days it was 33-38 degrees day in day out and costs us nothing but flights.

Got zero intention to sell we own it outright no debt.

I'm interested in the expansion plans of the ski resort were still very much beginners what they call level4 so we can do all the blue runs and building confidence done some reds but aiming to keep on getting better and next season want to master the reds and be able to go straight over the wall... Big air.

Sounds good!

One bit of advice though, don't get too excited about 'air'.

If you get most stuff wrong skiing, you come out with a bruise or two and a tall story to tell in the bar. Get it wrong in the park, and it's a season ender, or potentially worse.

I made a simple mistake in Tignes park, and over-shot a landing, was lucky (experience probably helped) to land absolutely plumb on both feet. Three compression fractured vertebrae, and a fracture in my left tibia. Had I landed sideways at all, I would very likely have been paralysed from the waist down, or worse. That's for a tiny momentary lapse in judgement.

Anyway, racing technique is far more fun, or even 'fun carving';

I'll not be jumping big air at all I just want to have fun on the slopes get a decent bit of speed down a run nail the turns and enjoy the views and a beer or two.

My wife was a total novice while I was marginally better so I held back until we could take private lessons together rather than seperate skill levels this way we are now very similar and can enjoy the runs together and build from this level.

Cannot wait till next season - might try the Bracknell dry slope a few times to keep fresh

Sounds good. Stick at the lessons, it's well worth it in the long run!

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a big investment in all ski resorts, especially Bulgaria, in the coming few years. Investment here in Kitz over the past 5-6 years has been immense. 30 million Euros invested last year alone, at least two or three spanking new lifts every year.

Bansko now being on the world cup circuit helps a lot too, it brings a lot of prestige to the area, which will jolly along any investment nicely.

I might do a bit of research in to it myself, looks like it could be a good place to invest.
