Oil for an old audi..
Discussion
Im looking to do an oil change on a 110k miles audi 4.2 v8 (NA)
The book tells me it needs to meet certain VW specs, fair enough i can narrow my search on opieoils with that info.
But would semi do? or do i need fully synth? and 10w40 or 5w30? I suspect either is good.
Any suggestions from those more educated than I would be appreciated.
My current feeling is semi will be fine and the different between the 2 viscosity's will be next to nothing.

If it says fully synth then stick to fully synth. Grade wise, there is little difference between 10w40 and 5w30 so don't worry about that. If you're worried it might need a special oil, check the specifications listed in the handbook with a lubricant supplier. They will soon tell you what will or won't do the job. In the majority of cases, even budget oils meet the spec for most cars.
Oil requirements do not change with the age of a vehicle, although regular oil changes help any engine to last longer.
