Hi Chaps,

Quick question, I need to hire a cheap as chips car this weekend, Ford KA comes out at £22 for 24 hours, which in my book is a bargain.

However, I need to fit a medium sized fridge in it, so question is do they have folding seats?

yes split 50/50 folding but i would say a fridge will not fit in without boot open

OK, the fridge is this size 84 x 54 x 57 cm (H x W x D)

So do you think I'd get it in a fiesta?

Doesn't sound that big, I reckon it would just about go on the passenger seat.

Have you looked at van rental? When I last checked something like a Transit Connect was only marginally more per day than a supermini.

Might just fit in. The loadlength with the seats down is over a metre but with a height of 50+ cms will mean a tight fit against the rear screen. The problem will be getting it in and out. You got someone to help load?

Van is twice the price.

Nah I don't think I'll need assitance, its only 40kg.

So is a fiesta going to be a bit better for this job?

We have both a Ka and a 5 door Fiesta...

We managed to get a washing machine in the back of the Fiesta with the seats down, with no problems.

I think you would struggle a bit with the Ka, even if it would physically fit in the boot opening is a strange shape and is higher up. There's a lot more potential to damage the rear bumper when lifting it, which would mean that your hire has cost you more than £22.

(I presume you are talking about the new (Fiat based) Ka and latest shape Fiesta).

Yeh I think they would be fairly recent.

I'll just get the fiesta then, its only an extra £5 smile
