Hi - During a short drive down the A13 this morning, I had a large van from a well-known telecomunications who are from Britain driving within a few foot of my bumper. I let said vehicle past, then remembered that I had a camera with me and instructed my passenger to snap away...

I managed to get a shot of him doing the same with the car ahead of me - I'm sure he was a little closer to me but the picture clearly shows the vehicle within a just a few meters of the car in front. This was when travelling at approx 50mph.

I have the full reg & other pictures of the van / driver - do you think it's worth a letter to try and discourage this behaviour?

I doubt if a letter will do any good, and if you think that is tailgating you don't get out much do you ? LOL

Thursday I had someone tailgating me and he was driving literally about 1 inch from my rear bumper. All I could do was wait for him to turn off which he eventually did. It was a Passat.

He is close but it is hardly tailgating.

Like Ledfoot, I had a BMW today that was so close that I thought he was the local boot inspector.... Probably 2 or 3 inches tops. Personally I wouldnt park that close to someone.

Worst part is I was doing 80 on the inside lane of an empty duel carrageway so only knows why he didnt just overtake!!!!!

maybe his indicators were not working...

you should have just stuck your toe down and made a gap

No point going on about having a van close to you, it'll get boring writting letters to every company who own transits

as mentioned by others, thats just getting friendly, you should see the rep boys do it. They get soooo close that they use YOUR mirrors before pulling off/out

I would call the telecom compny concerned, ask for fleet management and complain to them.

Most fleets these days are looking for their drivers to be more courteous, and by calling them you know you have done your bit!

The photo efect is all but lost because at slow speed, this isn't really tailgating in many situations.

I'd just forget about it unless you're really pissed off and determined to take it further...
