For those who are interested, and I'm sure many of you will be, I believe this is out in Japan on DVD and Blu Ray already:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNXF-...

It's not showing here until June 2011. The more resourceful of you should be able to move that forward somewhat wink

This movie is genuinely very very good!

SOme amazing footage and great archive stuff including stuff never seen before I believe!

And not just for F1 nuts - great story of one of the very few true legends of motorsport.

And bring a tissue..... or buy a heart on the way home (not in a soppy way)

I gather (from people that have seen it) that the film is a bit one sided. Painting him without many of his flaws and making Prost and others look like villans.

Amazing what Death can do for your image...

Not fking rolleyes

The bloke cheated regularly and drove Prost off the road so he could win. But didn't care if he killed himself or AP? But once he'd died. Everyone forgot that he was an arse. But I bet the same people who champion him villify Schumacher over the years. Who is also guilty of cheating.

So when reports suggest that this film is biased towards the Brazilian it becomes un-interesting to me. Warts and all would have been a better documentary!

It's not all pro Senna! Shows plenty of faults and warts.

I personally dont think that is the point though. It is an amazing time in F1 and one of the great rivalries of all time in motorsport.

Great film, great footage, great era.

Go see and then debate whether Senna was a saint or a sinner! Dont judge it without seeing it would be my suggestion.

One thing I can confirm though - there is one character that is definitely a total c0ck and it isn't one of the drivers! smile

Is this going to be in cinemas or released to DVD?

Can imagine the sound and picture of the racing in a cinema would be fantastic.

I'm sure it will be good, but I doubt I'll fancy a tug mid-way through.

It's no laughing matter! I was told the same thing about Schindler's List, sat there for 3 hours kleenex in hand, even with all the shower sceens I don't feel my sap rising once. Talk about a disapointment. wink

Are you referring to the Frenchman who has a striking resemblance to Alan Whicker?

There is a big clue in the title of the movie which will tell you which side the story is told from... wink

Having spent a very enjoyable evening of wine with both the writer and director, I can tell you that they spent a long time, and quite a few versions, trying to get a good balance... there was a version where people ended up liking Prost more than Senna!!

It's got some great footage, an amazing score, and overall it has been done very very well imo. I had a couple of gripes about things I'd have liked to have seen more/less of (more lower Formulae, less Xuxa Meneghel mad ), but they couldn't make the movie 5 hours long, although I know there is a version this long and know that I want to see it!

Don't need to go and see: I saw and made my judgement on him whilst he was alive. Sinner. Hugely talented driver but, like others of his ilk, quite prepared to cheat and put lives at risk if he thought he could get away with it.

Senna is undoubtedly the best F1 driver in the last 50 years probably since Nuvolari whom Fangio rated as the best, and he knew a thing or two about racing.

But Senna was a real out and out racer.

Yes he cut corners, yes he ran people off the road, but he was ONLY interested in winning. At any price and ultimately paid with his life trying to force an uncompetitive and poor handling car into being competitive by sheer driving skill. Killed himself tragically but he was out to WIN.

Never seen the like of him before probably never will in my lifetime, can't wait another 30 years. The grim reaper beckons.

Well as it's not been released here and I'm fairly sure you and I haven't been invited to the premieres what do you fking think genius? laugh Those that HAVE seen it and are not die hard Senna fans say it's biased in his favour. And that it glosses over his choices.

But I stand by the fact that if he hadn't thrown himself off the road (it WAS a driver error after all! Something many will NEVER accept!) and lived to this day. His "legend" status would have been no greater than any other WDC. I don't revere Stewart or Fangio or Hakkinen any more or less depsite their achievements being equal.
