Freelander 2 Brake Pad Wear

have just had our 08 reg FL2 Auto serviced at main dealer-mileage33k.Dealer reports front pads 50% rear pads 85% worn!! so rears replaced.we are told this normal on Freelander 2.In 45 years of motoring I have always had fronts wear out twice as fast as rears and cannot believe what I am being told
Anybody else suffered this ?

Not on a FL2 but on my old man's 2yr old Skoda Superb owned from new, he does his own maintenance so checked all 4 discs/pads himself and found the rears needed done at 24k miles, he is the most conservative driver I know and isn't heavy on his brakes - different car but at least proves it is possible for the rear pads to wear out quicker than the fronts, probably depends on weight of car and how the bias is set up?
