Considering an S but which one S1; S2; or S3
Discussion
Have at preasent a 99 Chimera that is superb
How-ever i really would love to have an older car, TR6 -5-4 Porsch 914 jenson healy But do not want the hassle of all that bodywork so Why not an early TVR
and S1 so its not to close to the chimera,But i dont know anything about the s and the main differences between them and which is considered the cream of the bunch , the s3000 sounds good but few and far between, and it has to be a convertable hope for input from hands on guys and girls
Thanks Ron

probably the best thing to do if you decide on an s is to get a copy of the bible by steve heath, i bought the book before the car as it gives you all the info you need on the models and also tells you what to look out for. the s1/2 will have the sweeping dash and the s3 on will have a more traditional dash, just depends on which one u like i suppose. s1 have a 2.8 and s2/3 will have the 2.9 engine. the door length increased with later models also. there are other changes on the later cars such as the bonnet. then theres the v8s which is the most powerfull and has a different bonnet again. thing is no two cars are the same. if your looking check the chassis carefully for corrosion (see threads on outriggers etc)service history is important also but go on the condition. for example mine hasnt been near a tvr dealer in the time i have had it but everything under the bonnet is a1. happy hunting
Go for an S3!!
Not that I'm biased or anything. When I was loooking into this I found that the S3 was a better car all round as an S4 was unavailable.
The S1 do have a few problems with them getting hold of parts, throttle cable etc, and aren't as fast.
The S3 being a newer car, I found was generally in better conndition than S2. Only thing was that I liked the dash on the S2s better. But the S3s had electric mirros, windows and some other gubbins.
Bets thing to do is go for an S2 or 3 and see which is in better condition.
Tell you what, I'll swap you.

3000S has got to be the way to go (either that or a Taimar Turbo)... I was offered one a few months ago on here for very reasonable money too.
As a bloke who's gone from an S to a Chimaera and back to an S, I can say that the S seems remarkably uncomfortable, basic, and slow compared to the chim.. but hey, they're still good fun
Cheers,
Matt

S2 should also have electric mirrors etc.. the main overriding difference from S2 to S3 is the door lengths.. if you're 6ft you'll get in and out of an S3 a lot easier than an S1-2.
Cheers
Matt.
All the S2's I have seen do not have electric mirrors, but they do have electric windows.

I think there is so little to choose between an S2 and an S3 that really the choice comes down finding a solid car that has the looks you want.
I specifically wanted Racing Green metallic and wraparound dash in walnut wood effect. A relatively rare combination.
Therefore it had to be an S2. However, if it is a blue car you want, and like the S3 dash - then the choice is easier.
Just remember that you have to live with it both mechanically and aesthetically - so it needs to excite you both physically and mentally.....(Cue Podie)

Hi thanks for the input.Found s seris.com and usefull info, looked at a friends v8s today to judge the door length and at 6ft this is a must so as no s2 have long door then s3 or s3c is looking good. S4 getting to new and close to the chimera and v8s far to close.
The car needs to be older and different to the chim
So now need to check the difference between the two
