air filter replacement

I need to repalce the air filter on my S3 and found these 2 items that i think will fit, but i'm no "technical tony", so need some guidance from the guru's on here please.

my preference is this one (i'm a tart and i like the look!)

I would stick to the Pipercross filter (and it looks good). There are 2 air hoses coming out of the air filter assembly, so I cannot see how the K&N will work. If you have the original filter, you need to retain the original back plate, then the new Pipercross fits on in seconds. You may have the added problem of the breather pipe to the oil filler bung on the rocker cover. Read:

My recommendation is just replace that pipe by a small filter. If you look at many photos on this forum (see current thread on engine colour schemes), that’s what most people seem to do and you don’t hear of V6’s blowing up every week. It has the added advantage that the air flow meter will not get clogged from the oil mist.
