2000 P38 radio code - help????

Hi All,
Changed my battery out this morning, half expecting the radio to need a code, but also expecting I'd find something in the paperwork to tell me what the code is.
Well, suprise, surprise, nothing in the manuals, it would appear I've not got the 'In car entertainment' booklet which I assume has been lost of the years.
I've had the radio out, other than a serial number stamped into the casing, nothing on it.
So, can anyone help me get the code. I'd rather not randomly phone a dealer as, well, I don't even know where the nearest dealer is
Is there any other way of getting the code without spending a fortune?
I know, I'm a dumbarse, but I needed to swap the battery so couldn't be helped anyways

Well, a result, got a number to try tonight.
Phoned a dealership. They wanted me to book the car in, go in with the V5, 2 proofs of address, ID and the car. I think they said it would be free though and take half an hour. Then I realised I had phoned a dealer in Chelmsford by mistake, I got the worng number, doh.
So then I phoned the dealer I meant to phone in the first place, explained what I'd done. He asked for the registration number , said to hang on a moment, and came back to me in 30 secs with the code.
Thanks to that guy, much more like it and makes me more likely to consider using them in the future!
So it is worth phoning around.
Fingers crossed it's the right number.

I'd love to say but that would be in direct contravention of the naming and shaming rules. And I always follow that rule, unless it's Sky, the w

No, more seriously, I think it would be unfair to say on an open forum otherwise they'd get inundated with everyone around the globe trying to get new codes for their radios. People need to phone a few dealers and be nice, seems that sooner or later you'll find a decent one.

So tonight I try the radio, turn on ignition, it's sat there with 'CODE' displaying.
So I press '1' to start entering my newly acquired code, but nothing happens. The radio is completely unresponsive. Can't turn it off either.
So eventually I pull it out the dash and disconnect the rear connector to kill it and then plug it back in.
Well it killed it allright, stone dead. Nothing. Won't power up now.
Any ideas anyone?

You can get it converted to use an iPod at the same time...
Hi Meeja, I saw your note before and did exchange a couple of emails with him yesterday but, as above, I managed to get the code direct from the dealer rather than having to send the unit up to Sunderland + £30 to get it de-coded.You can get it converted to use an iPod at the same time...
However, based on the latest update above, I may yet have to send it up! LOL

I used the official Clarion repair shop when my unit developed a fault and had an iPod aux lead fitted at the same time. They were excellent and very quick.
