Stuck Ford Quadlock

Testing a Ford headunit in my car.
Connected the quadlock to the unit.
Tried to disconnect but the lever gets to around 1/3 way out then stops.
If you pull it any further it slips over whatever it's supposed to push against inside the mechanism.
Also noticed that the headunit socket is cracked.
Any ideas, other than having to split my quadlock plug and try to buy a replacement?
