Alternative to 'Ring trip.

Myself and a few close mates were pondering a rather epic Euro trip in the summer, using my 'stag do' as an excuse it seemed the perfect time to do it. However, as ever nothing is ever easy and it's looking like we are having to cut back on the original plan.

Now we are looking at a straight blast to the 'Ring then back again, having done this previously I'm well aware it's not as 'special' as the original plan of Lincs>Calais>Le Mans>Milau>Mt Ventoux>Monaco>Chamonix>Nurburgring>Calais>Lincs.

Scotland is a possibility but as two of us are from that part of the world it wouldn't be as much of an occasion.

All inspiration appreciated!

What made you scale back your plan? I'm going to be looking into a similar trip through Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switherland, Italy, France and home again in the summer.

Mostly cost TBH, it was looking like it was going to cost the best part of £1k per person and that was somewhat 'slumming it' for the accomodation.

Ouch, thought it'd be a lot cheaper but will need to have a look and see.

I'm in the same position. Worked out it would cost £700 in fuel alone in the M5.

We are going to Scotland instead for a week.

Why not try Cornwall? Or get a Diesel estate car and head to Monaco. Diesel is a little cheaper in Europe as I'm sure you know.

Cornwall from Lincs would be a lot of M-Way, as would Scotland!

Could plan a trip around York Moors/Dales then Peak District but that can be done any old time.

Quite tempted by a 'Dambuster' tour followed by the 'Ring. It's a shame the party boat from Hull to Zeebrugge offers no saving whatsoever!
