Neighbour has just had his '08 Black R32 Golf stolen by a test driver. Plate is HG08UUF. Would say as of half 5 it will be within a 20-mile radius. Police are aware and actively looking for it, if you happen to spot it (or see a cheap ad for one that looks a bit dubious please call Fordingbridge police - 0845 045 4545)

If you feel like sharing this round on your Facebook status perhaps we can get this one back.

Surely the owner didnt let someone test drive his car without going with them?

Hope he gets a result though.

You know if he doesn't get it back the Insurers will refuse to pay out in those circumstances.
Handing a thief the keys isn't really a good idea.

OK I think we all can say this was somewhat daft to have done, but it's not helping the poor rightful owners of the car.

Here's an idea other than the obvious 'Don't let someone take the car without you going with them' that I think will stop this sort of thing easily and pretty much immediately ....

Take a photograph of the persons before they take a drive. In fact why not do this even if they have bought the car as it's not unheard of that the 'cheques used are dodgy' Any problems and you have a photo to hand over to the Police of the culprit. A legitimate buyer is not going to object and in fact it can work both ways, the buyer can do the same of the seller. Someone's going to be selling this nicked car.

They do, great getaway car. I posted in the last 'R32 stolen' thread how I witnessed a fantastic police chase following a bank robbery recently. Black R32 V 5 door vs several SS Commodores, great Saturday afternoon spectacle.

Small world, my boss is a relative of your neighbour - he told us today about this.
Sorry to hear it, I do hope it gets found. Unfortunately I think it'll be a slim chance of it happening frown

If it were my car I wouldn't want it back. It will have been beasted and probably used in crime with 4 disgusting rats smoking in it.

Its pretty shocking when it happens to you or someone you know but Id just want my reasonable insurance payout

Did the theif not leave his car or the cash for the r32? Not criticising, just wondering what was the standard procedure sellers use, apart from going with the test driver.

Any chance you get some more details, like rough mileage, age and any customisations?
Granted that they may clock it/replate it, but they might not notice some subtle mods whilst we will.

Just seen an .:R on autotrader which is a high miler at 99k, apparently excellent condition which it isnt and also standard, which it also isnt (R badge in the centre of the steering wheel).

If I recall what my boss said, the car was quite low mileage, and absolutely cherished, so it's going to be in good nick!
Thats all I can remember at the mo!
