MK3 timing chain and servicing
Discussion
I have just bought after a couple of test drives, the highest mileage MX5 I saw, because it felt the best by far, infact the lowest mileage, highest spec car had something wrong with a shock absorber or suspension bush because it had a nasty pitching tendency.
Anyhow, the car has done 93000 miles and drives sweetly, and appears to have a full service history, although the last service has yet to be verified.
The question is, are there any major jobs looming for this mileage?...I was told it had a timing chain (2.0ltr variant) and was bullet proof....is this correct?
Any advice on how long things like clutches last etc would be helpfull aswell.
Thanks

Ask in http://www.mx-5.com/ Dragonsoup was running a high milage MX5
It does have a chain, and IIRC doesn't require changing at any time.
Thats one of the higher mileages on an MX5, we've got a few at about 70,000 miles and other than normal servicing they just keep going. Shockers as you've mentioned, and maybe check the anti-roll bar links.
Thats all I can think off of the top of my head, I'll have a look on Monday at work and see if I can think of anything else.
