Anyone got an Integra Type R???

I am thinking of ditching my everyday car and going for an integra type r. I want it as an alternative track car.
I ve read quite a bit about them, but internet articles/reviews seem difficult to find

I was thinking about an xreg old model possibly evn from a dealer for the warrantly and to be able to extend it.
The new model looks prettier, but doesnt get quite the rave reviews. Plus the import issues concern me. i.e. will honda be happy to service/warranty it.

Plus, does it need services every 6000 miles? and how much are they?Are the standard brakes on the old bar Brembos?? HAs anyone chipped the old model to 212bhp??

Fantastic cars, although you have to work them hard to keep it in the power zone (I'm sure you've read all this before though).

You can pick 'em up for as little as 8k, I believe.

I sold mine about 6 months ago as I needed a vehicle for my new business - A Landrover!! They are great fun and in the VTEC zone they howl and really pull! I found the torque issue less of an issue and in everyday use it was fine! The handling is just plain awesome especially for a FWD. The best complement I can pay it is that it was not embarrased by my Elise...

Brilliant car and servicing is no issue as all Honda garages will service it and the intervals on an X reg witll be 9 or 10,000 miles - go for it!

Servicing for 2000/2001 wil be 9000 miles but if you thrashing round a track as a toy I'd personally service more often.
Keep an eye on the oil if is to be constantly thrashed as using a litle seems to be a feature. The VTeC system relies on oil pressure to change cam profiles so you'll know things are getting low if the car seem less urgent beyond 6000rpm.
Also for a track toy I'd upgrade the brakes. Standard brakes stop fine but IMHO do not stand up to too much abuse.
Tuning not cheap. Expensive but high quality imports from Japan and USA are the way to go. Blitz/Mugen/DC Sports/Spoon/Magnatec/Apexi/
Jackson Racing(Superchargers) .etc.

The new shape is same engine as Civic type-R but with LSD (that UK Civic should have had)

I am not optimistic that you would stand a chance in getting a proper Honda warranty in the UK. Any warranty would probably be the discretion of the importer.
I can't see routine servicing being a problem with Honda dealers.
Best to ask the local dealers these questions.

I am sure somebody in the Honda Revolutions club has got one so go to the forum (from link in my first post)and ask around.

thanks for that. Unfortunately I had to take the car back to the dealer (an official Honda dealer incidentally) after a week because a "Whirring noise"( the noise was there when I test drove it) which they insisted was the LSD and that was completely normal was infact wheel bearings failing.
Unbelievably they actually tried to get me to have it repaired under warranty by a local dealer (who generously diagnosed the problem and checked the car out for me for a day without charging me).
The noise was there from the start and they knew it.
Technically I could report them to Hondacare for fraud. But Ill wait till I get the car back this week and Ill see how nicely I get treated (i.e. if they drop the car back and apologize)If detect any arrogance, they are grassed.

I must admit, I always thought Honda dealers were straight as an arrow. And that you couldnt buy a bad car from them.

Whats worse though is that Im really missing my teg. For the short week Ive had it so far, I absolutely love it.

I didn't think honda dealers could sell imports as honda approved cars anyway.
I know thats the line the dealer I bought my CTR took when a friend tried to PX his ctr to them.

the ctr was bought new from virgin cars via holland.

is the DC2 not classed as an import?

no its not an import.. it was an official uk car.
