Bonnet catch not catching

I have just been giving the car a quick check over before I go to Cannes and now the bonnet catch will not catch, everything looks fine but when you press down on the bonnet it just springs back..

has anybody had this happen if so how do you fix it.

Not sure if the griffith catches are the same as the S's but try looking at my previuos thread... bonnet catches.

Could be the cable is running too tight in its shroud and not releasing the clip after you've opened it. Might be that you need to push back in your bonnet release handle in the cabin.

Ours has a plastic shroud on the bonnet part - looks like a bit of old pipe. If this is moved up or down the bonnet won't shut - worth a try.

I fixed mine as follows:

1) Release the spring on the front of the catch and rotate that part out of the way. Wipe the crud off the rest and add WD40.

2) Remove the short piece of plastic tube from the projection on the bonnet.

Then it should shut!

Orrr.....i know this sounds obvious, but when mine does it I just need to push the bonnet release pull back to whence it came?

Ditto, mine suffers from that, not had a chance to investigate why yet.

I had that problem on mine ,i tried allsorts to fix it adjusting every thing i could but it turned out to be the metal pin that is fixed to the bonnet was to short and did not come far enough back towards the windscreen to reach the the catch it would catch some times but not others i put a washer on each of the bolts that hold the catch to the bulkhead between the catch and the bulkhead to move the catch forward and that was the end of the problem ,you need large diameter washers with the correct hole size because the catch has large holes in it you can get them in loads of hardware shops good luck Steve.

Thank you for all your advise however in my case the cable had popped out of the cable tensioner.

Two days to go till the big run down to Cannes, I am sure I getting paranoid as the car seems to have developed a lot more additional sounds for me to worry about..
