Instrument Cluster / Mondeo / Lights Busted
Discussion
Hi,
I just bought a 2006 Mondeo TDCI for the work hack. The instrument cluster is poorly lit in areas and both of the LCD panels are not lit at all. Can both of these issues be remedied by replacing bulbs? If not, I can get an instrument cluster on ebay for 60 quid. However, how would I get the correct mileage programmed in? Can you just swap these over?
Thanks

The milage comes straight from the ECU. The dash panel is just a digital readout.
The mileage doesn't come from the ECU. It is stored in the cluster. I have recently changed the cluster in mine so I could gain 'trip' functions and my car is now showing 97k less than it has actually done due to the donor car being much lower mileage than mine. I will get it corrected soon though.paulmoonraker said:
That's actually what I thought. How do you get it reprogrammed.
Shows how trivial it is to clock cars. Timed well with the MOT and 60 quid a year on ebay could easily fool the system.
jUST Google 'digital mileage correction' and look in your area, there are guys who will come to you. Should be around £50.Shows how trivial it is to clock cars. Timed well with the MOT and 60 quid a year on ebay could easily fool the system.
