The key word is consistently. Seems to be lots of threads here at the moment from sensible 17 yr olds who just want a car to get to work or college. This seems to be a way to reduce the premiums to palatable levels.

Driving round maccidees at 2 in the morning doing donuts wouldn't be safer than driving to work I think..I am glad I never had a box like this..

+ Young teenagers tend to drink alcohol and go to house party's in the late hours/early morning. And sometimes, it gets mixed up.I am glad I never had a box like this..
It's a worrying trend. If this catches on how long before we're all offered it? More to the point how long before we're all refused insurance until we accept it? Is this a back door in to more motoring intrusion I wonder.
As for 17 yo's saving 11%. Is that it? £2000 policy doesn't sound good when £200 buys a lot more fun than a paltry saving will make a youngster happy me thinks.

I've only been driving six years and could probably just about qualify for this for one year but I don't think it's a good idea at all, especially for inexperienced drivers.
They aren't very clear on how how regular they deem bad driving to be 'consistent'. I can imagine inexperienced drivers thinking they mustn't brake in fear of their premiums rising regardless of whether a car pulls out in front of them or a child runs out. If it's difficult to join a motorway they may be worried about getting up to speed again if it's going to cost them and this could make it a nightmare for other road users.
If it was a more intelligent system with the ability to judge each situation and determine whether the driver was actually at fault it might be better but I still wouldn't want it myself.
It seems to me that it's just a clever way of charging people more while spying on them in the process.

Dont think this would really work for me if im honest. If anything my premiums would go through the roof.
What im not saying is I drive like an absolute t
t. Just I drive at all times day or night, no consitancy what so ever. Also there is the odd B road which I do like the odd spirited drive along. Always stick to my limits and dont push it more than I feel I can, but im sure these boxes would report back to HQ im being an absolute arse and should be going around these corners at about 5mph holding up everyone behind me who also wish to make progress.

I've had more idiots nearly crashing into me on my daily commute than at 2am. The situation you mention would obviously be more dangerous but people need to understand were not all like that I am glad I never had a box like this..
