I have just put in a deposit on a 3yr old boxster approx 23000 miles being sold by a non porsche dealer. The car to me is fine with full porsche service history pristine interior/exterior but I am no expert. The independent dealer selling the car shall be getting it serviced from porsche before giving me delivery. This dealer who specialises in sports cars of other makes assures me that their inspection has detected no faults. Plus they are giving me a 1 year non porsche mechanical and breakdown warranty( im not sure how good that is).The car shall be hpi checked and verified. My question is should I still get another independent check done or get it checked by OPC( they say the earliest they can do one is at the end of the month) ? and is it worth getting an OPC warranty extra which I presume shall all cost approx another £800 (£200 check + £600 warranty) to the cost of the car.Any suggestions shall be greatly appreciated

get another inspection either a porsche specialist or even AA or RAC. 2 years ago I had a AA inspection on a mint 911 1990 car4 cab and the outcome was it needed £5000 worth of work doing so I didnt buy it although it cost me £300 it saved me £5000

...check the RMS for oil leaks (rear main seal between gearbox and engine) as i have heard of lots of boxsters having problems with these. Porsche are aware of the problem as it's been well documented and usually fix as goodwill if pushed a little.

I'd second an AA check too for peace of mind

BTW lots of good boxster advice on www.boxa.net but the site is having a few difficulties at the moment as switching hosts so running in a limited.
