Can someone claim housing benefit if the landlord is a family member and the landlord lives in the same property?

Thanks

Not an IMMEDIATE family member, defined as parent/child/grandparent/grandchild/brother/sister and that may not be exhaustive. Cousins/uncle/aunt etc is ok.

2 minute call to local council LHA/HB office for private sector should confirm. Think the ban extends to half brothers/sisters etc as well.

Living in same property is ok as long as they are considered as a separate household. If same household then landlord's circumstances will be taken into account when assessing claim.

Depends how the property is arranged, but the claim will probably be for 1 room plus share of kit, bath, etc., unless of course the claimant has separate facilities in the property which are for their sole use.
