Hi Peeps..
Just got to say a massive thanks to rooodboy for helping me out today..Nice one fella.
May of found the reason for my bad running..Whilst having my steering pump changed i thought i would put the bracket back on me new fuel filter but noticed the coil lead hanging out now i may of knocked it with my elbow but would of known if id caught it and pulled it out as they take a bit of yanking out..Rooodboy hadnt touched it either, And then when we went to check the timing i was turning the key for short bursts to reveal the pulley mark when vroom it starts without any pumping of the throttle..In my disbeleif we tried it a few times and sure enough it started every time..There was no buzzing of the fuel pump any more..no chugging at low idle and after moving the dizzy a couple of degrees the pinking was eliminated..The drive home was very enjoyable and from 60-100 it gets there pretty quick..Now would the coil lead cause all my starting issues..my cutting out when hot..bad starting when cold..the fuel pump to make noise..If so then i wont need to spend £140 on a rolling road just to tell me everything is ok..Maybe im being a little ambitious but so far so good..Once again a massive thanks mate for helping out..Ziga

Dont speak too soon mate..its started doing it all over again..Perhaps it is an electrical thing..
For a short while the fuel pump couldnt be heard..It started on the button..Ran like the devil was chasing it..not a mis-fire in sight..or a mrs-fire..Then today guess what..yep..its all back again..very strange..
Dilemma = Do i still put it through the rolling road which is gonna cost me £140 or do i try to find someone who can put their finger on it..Even though i dont know where to start as ive tried numerous auto-electricians, Do i take it to a TVR man?..I dont know what to do..Cheers..Ziga

Hi Zig dont get down harted.
You should start at the basics. How old are the ht leads..
Have you had the timming checked, when you take the ht lead out of the coil does it look wet or damp if so the coil is shot butif its of an age may be worth changing along with dizy cap rota are and leads. You could have a break down in a lead causing a miss.
As for your noise fuel pump in my experiance it could be working harder because there isnt enough fuel returning to the tank due to a blockage, if you can graft a pressure gage in there some where to see whats going on or the pump coming to the end of its lift but it may run noise for meany years before dying. In no expert on that v6 just the essex v6.
Keep nibbling away at it Zig you will get there like us all.
I am suppised the capri garage cant sort this as the tvr garage may be out of practice worth a phone call and checking though..

Cheers guys..
I did change the leads,Dizzy cap, Rotor arm, Plugs and coil about 4 months ago, Ive just put the original ford coil back in to see if that makes a difference and have a spare coil lead..The fuel system has had all the pipe work changed and the tank i got off of dwgriffith was like new inside..The other was plastic coated, Its had a new fuel pump and 3 new fuel filters in total..
Roodboy checked the timing and adjusted it slightly which eliminated the pinking...But what im thinking that when i put the fuel filter bracket on yesterday there are a bunch of wires just under it and some of them go into a plastic connector and the rest are just a mess..maybe i have knocked something there that is the problem..I have had a auto-electrician look at it but he was only paid to look at the fuse and relay board..
Also there is what looks like an oil cooler in the nose cone that has the fuel line coming from the filter going into it and the other end going into the metering head..Why would the fuel need cooling?..Here is a picture of it...Cheers..Ziga
