I had the chance this evening to admire the arse of a V12 Vantage for best part of 3-5 miles. Private plate but my guess would be that this is a year old if that. It sat very low and I must be brutaly honest it sounded and looked buetifull.

The chap decided to drag me along way onto the A12 to blow a few cobb webbs. Well how could I refuse.

I cant believe the serious pace of the Sag once you get going, If you want the honest truth and no lies, the Aston got a proper spanking. No chance at all!

Give the chap credit we got the thumbs up etc, etc. Lets face it they are wonderfull cars and British of course.

It's just that Sag's are better.laugh

You forget just how fast a healthy Speed Six engined TVR is compared to other exotica. They really can outdrag all but the very quickest of the quick. thumbup

I thought I was doing well today seeing a 911 and a vette off

Until a heavily modded turbo old beetle thing blasted me away (at least I like to think it was heavily modded)

I suggest the Aston was not trying too hard. You might be able to just hang on to him, but in full flight that V12 must make it really shift, especially once over 60mph (ish).

I would have thought that the power to weight advantage of the sag would quite easily see off a v12 vantage.

Is that using TVR factory figures for weight and power, or actual ones wink

The power figures for the speed six engines are quite accurate cant comment about the weight figures but the aston is nearly 2 ton of car

Weight is not really relevant to acceleration once you're moving at a reasonable speed. Aero and power are.

Can I suggest you take a basic physics lesson, paying particular attention to Newtons second law of motion...

Back on topic my TVR Chimaera whilst defiantly slower is not hugely far of the pace of my fathers V12 Vantage up to about 110/120 (on a test track of course) after then the Aston has the distinct advantage helped by far superior aerodynamics (coupe vs vert) and most importantly a 6th gear, but they are an extremely heavy car and getting them of the line needs every one of it's substantial HP whereas a featherweight TVR especially something with the awesome grunt of a Sagaris can completely obliterate it..

Throw a few bends into the equation and the fact that TVR build 'sportscars' and Aston builds Luxury GT's really becomes apparent..

Interesting web site , on power to weight there isnt much that beats the TVRs unless you spend serious cash, actually Im quiet surprised at some of the figures, I might feel a bit more confident went the odd Porsche or BMW comes looking for a scrap, I just shake my head and laugh at them at the moment.

I have nothing to prove and copalways seems to be waiting for me when I do!!!

Both quick and stylish Brits, top of my list (but behind a 458 paperbag)

Though should be very close in a straight line, the 1650kg Aston wouldn't see where our 1200kg Sag's or T350's went around corners or on track.

For info on real-life figs, Evo test had V12 0-100 9.7 secs, Autocar test of Sag 8.5, but once rolling the V12 is right there with 80-100 3 secs, same as Sag.

...but any 4.3 speed six with low diff does 80-100 in 2 secs biggrin
