EBC red stuff pads - 4.5

I want to order some new pads but I am a little confused.

Does anybody know the correct part no. for a 98 4.5. (4 pot?) pad as the front pad type listed on the EBC website for the 4.5 is the same for the 4.2 - DP3002C.

Is this correct?

Also, do these pads come with the adhesive shims and do I need to buy anything else, like pins?

Sorry for the daft questions, but I've never done an AP caliper before and I haven't taken the old pads out yet

I never got on with EBC pads in several different cars. If you like fast driving then I would go for the Carbon Lorraine or Ferrodo DS2500 (i think) They are a bit more expensive but worth the money

EBC do come with stick on shims.

I have used EBC and will not again, probably give Carbon Lorraine a go. Nothing against the way the EBC's perform, never had brake fade from them but they eat disc's, a set of disc's last about a set of pads so while the pads look cheap and effective it is a very expensive solution.

Try mintex pads, ferodo or carbon lorraine but I wouldnt bother with EBC. Ive used mintex on my cerb previosly and they are really good. I just bought a t350 with EBC red stuff pads in and I thought the brakes were broke.

From what I was told by Matt (ex) Silverstone Performance and one of our own Cerb tracking Gods (step forward MadGraham) I believe the CLs are even more aggressive on discs

If you're looking at DS2500s, AP Racing have a new pad material called APF 404 which might also be worth looking at. Supposed to avoid the pad deposits that can happen with DS2500s.

I just fitted Yellow Stuff front pads a few hundred miles ago and have no issues with them. They do come with shims and the car's stopping on a sixpence.
You'll require pads for the 6 bolt calipers....not the older 4 bolt ones.

I was going to chip in and say the Yellows are very good pads, I am much less of a fan of the Red's. The Yellows lasted much longer, had better fade resistance, less noise and only cost a few quid more.

The CL RC6's are basically for racing only. I have the RC5's (now replaced by RC5+) and they're great stoppers on track with no fade and wear rate is fine. You might benefit from AP551 high boiling point brake fluid too.

I had decided to shy away from the red stuff - especially with the costs of new disks

I have gone with the Mintex 1144 F & R's, which I think will suit my (slower) style of driving.

Am I correct in assuming I have the CP5200 4 pot caliper on my 98 4.5?

Too many Paul, but I must be getting sensible in my old age as I have now switched back to RC5+.

I am about to replace my disks and pads but as I had the EBC red stuff before which wrecked my disks I am looking at getting something different a little more disk friendly maybe!

Does anyone know the Part number for the mintex pads or are they only available through TVR.

I have been using the Mintex pad for both sprinting and trackdays (and obviously road use) and love them. Very grippy from cold (which is great for sprinting) and I have not had them fade on me on track yet - obviously I don't drive it hard enough

Not sure about the part number, I usually get mine from ACT who I think sells at around the going rate.

Fab. They worked out quite cheap and I also ordered new split pins for the rears and anti rattle shims for the front.

Really work well with quite a lot of dust indicating they are not eating my disks!

Overseas at mo but will check part nos / cost when I get back
