Mine was fine although apart from the on screen graphics i'd have struggled to notice the difference to SD.

Guess the in car cameras aren't HD either - anyone know?

Recorded the repeat as I missed the live airing, and its not in HD!

If you recorded it in HD, why can't you re-air it in HD?

I noticed the fancy graphics, I assumed they were new for 2011 rather than just for HD viewers.

I fancy it's an upgraded picture from a normal SD recording? Didn't seem all that sharp to me.

But the picture was perfect, watched it about an hour or two behind 'live' I'm new to this Sky+ thing, I don't know if recording it lowers the picture quality.

Its not HD, its up scaled...

As far as I know, the orange 'programs' in the skyviewer are HD, the white are just upscaled.

White is normal/SD/upscaled, the Orange ones are HD.

But why promote it as HD, when its not actually HD? If that was the case, I watched last seasons as 'HD' (upscaled)

The Saturday qualifying was orange, the race white. Weird!

I'm pretty sure it was stated the onboards would not be HD. Those onboard cameras are very complex so I don't think they've had enough time to figure out how to upgrade them to HD. I'd guess the biggest problem is transmitting the signal from the cars, as it's a huge leap in the amount of data to send across the airwaves.

I thought last year it was upscaled, but in proper HD this year?

Last year was upscaled. But the second showing was white on my HD planner, so not in HD. I'm not sure what the first viewing was

As far as yesterday's broadcast was concerned it was still upscaled SD I believe. The program information certainly didn't note that it was HD.

Can't comment on what the BBC did, but the race was shot in HD, replays and graphics are HD, the onboards are SD and upscaled onsite to HD.

Hope this helps

I didn't get stuttering, but whenever I watch anything live on BBC HD, i get "blocking" on the picture.
By this I mean every now and then around a quarter of the picture will get big pixels for 3 or 4 seconds, then clear. Happens all the time.

It was only on the build up, i.e. the BBC feed. The FOM feed of the race coverage itself was fine.
