Wrongly Badged Cars?

OK, I'll bite. Assuming one isn't trying to sell the car in question as something it isn't, what's so wrong about this?

People who see the badge but haven't got a clue what it means are going to be none the wiser. They'll be happy in their ignorance.

People who see the badge and see that it's on the wrong car are going to realise the owner is a poser. They'll be happy because they have spotted the subterfuge.

People who see the badge, know what it means, and think it's somehow important are going to be impressed. They'll be happy because they think they've seen a desireable car.

End Result - everyone's happy

If the beholder of the car doesn't know what it means then it's been a waste of time.

If the beholder of the car does know what it means then you've been rumbled as a liar/fantasist/poser.

This leaves a small number of people in the middle who are impressed by shiny badges without knowing what they mean. If they're the kind of people you want to impress then fill your boots I guess.
