You'll love this...ban all petrol/diesel cars from city centers by 2050. By then City Centers will be so much bigger then todays, and petrol & diesel cars so so much more efficient. Hybrids being allowed maybe, but from an environmental reason (which these all stem from) elec cars are almost always gunna be so much more polluting then petrol cars (them batteries dont grow on trees y'know...).

As much as I love fossil fuel cars I'd like to think there will be viable alternatives by 2050. The rate at which technology advances I can't see why not and if it doesn't happen I'll be happy for someone to remind me of this post on the 1st January 2050.

Suits me

With the way town centers are going and everything moving outside citys they could ban them tomorrow and it would make very little difference to me as i don't go there anyway.

Carry on the way we are currently going town centers will be lifeless slums anyway

The proposal would cut carbon emissions by 60% and reduce dependence on oil.
Let's assume that all of us start using electricity to run them cars, will it still be:
a) green
b) free and accessible to everyone (like the free charging points)

I'll be dead by then.

I'll tell my son though to see how he reacts! Somehow I think its not going to bother him that much.

Ask anyone who has been driving for a while and they will tell you that it was much better 20 or 30 years ago, so I cant imagine that there will be any enjoyment at all in 30+ years time.

We will all be living on the moon, wearing silver spandex jump suits and eating food pills for dinner by then.

I like the idea of food pills , I'd have more room for beer in the kitchen.

Dont fancy drinking on the moon though , its got no atmosphere!

Ok!

Ban petrol/derv cars,
create a suitable zero carbon transportation system,
create efficient electric cars that dont cost the "earth/planet" to create in the first place.

All that in 39 years.............................i dont think so!!
