Serious question, but are any of those cars drivable after the tsunami?
Probably not going to be in good shape, and you'll probably have some panel damage, but in the short term are these cars actually usable again?

I'm sure the powwer of the water could force the water into every little space!.
Having seen the Toyota Hylux on Top Gear come back from the sea and drive off i would have thought some could be salvaged, all be it after a talented mechanic had his hands on it!
I guess it could be a way of reducing some of the short term cost to local society but i would imagine no one would bother or want to after what has happened. I would imagine half of the owners don't exist any more

prolonged exposure to salt and mud will probably have all but destroyed most of the cars
some may well look ok but electronics and sea water really don't mix.
the shells will probably have deep seated corrosion and the engines will
at best need a rebuild.
some enterprising souls could probably salvage enough good components
to revive some of them but most will be a total loss
and need melting down and start over.
Without even going in to ownership issues.

we had some big monsoon floods that buggered up a lot of high end cars in underground carparks, they were fulll on f
ked up write offs due due to damage to electrical systems and to the interiors. it seems that a flooded (modern) car needs a new ECU and wiring loom and many electric motors which is very expensive to retro fit.
