Well he went for the MOT and disgraced himself - a fail on three counts.
1 headlight needed adjustment - adjusted and fixed
2 The gaitor on the lower steering UJ rubbing on the chassis - removed and fixed
3 Emissions 4.1%, limit 3.5%, so advice and gudance please. This might be a nothing problem as the battery is completly kn
ed and when we started the car day before yesterday the original battery started it fine. Today turned the ignition key and slow grunting and then solenoid clicking in and out. Had a spare battery and jump leads so started the car. But couldnt switch off so it was ticking over for a good hour before going for the MOT which was a very short drive. So i suspect just clagged up. Will be going for a re-test later this week early next so if there any suggestions as what to do IF the emissions dont sort themselves out.

Well done Norman, it's great to see her back on the road, I've missed her over the last few sunny weekends. And with no sign of a V8 S on the horizon it looks like a defection over to the Chimaera forum for me.
I had no emissions issues on the previous MOT so would suggest that it needs a damn good thrashing to clear her out.

Hi Norman,
Last week I was reccommended a can of cleaner that you put in the petrol tank which is supposed to clean out the fuel lines, injectors etc. I have bought a can to make sure my injectors arn't causing my problems, but the garage that reccommended it to me said they have seen amazing results with it when a car fails MOT on emissions, they put a can in 1/2 a tank, run it through and it has brought the emissions right down.
Of course this could also be because they give the car a bit of a thrash while running the stuff through. Also this isn't on TVR's, but could definitely be worth a shout. Not sure where you might source it from, but product info is here:

Dont forget to check the air filter! Dirty filters will drive the measurments through the roof, also an oil & filter change will help. The other tip I was given is to make sure the engine is right up to temp before the MOT. Had a vehicle of mine fail because it had been left standing untill cold and the buggers checked it while still on choke. I suppose the weak minded would have coughed up for them to carry out remedial work. Not this mean B####d though.
