Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a really good restaurant that serves Halal meat in Birmingham? Taking a client out and want to choose somewhere they will be able to eat the meat on the menu!

Not overly fussy as I eat all kinds! Just needs to have Halal meat options to accomodate my guest

Looking for some good restaurant recommendations, looking at £30 per head tops!

I have visited quite a few halaal restaurants in Birmingham. To be honest, I have found food places in Birmingahm lacking considerably comapared to Manchester or London. However a couple of weeks ago I went to Akbars on Hagley Road.

Very good food, good place to take a client and it would probably be my choice of restaurant for a while when I visit. If going on a Friday or Saturday make sure you book as its very busy...

Also the place looks nicer than it does in the photos on their website.

IIRC this is the place that made the local news recently because one of the waiters texted a picture of his willy to a female customer that had inadvertently made a booking using her mobile phone. Surprisingly, neither love nor lust blossomed.

I have no idea what the food is like, but if you ring for a booking with hold your number or use a land line. Unless, of course, you like that sort of thing.

If you want Indian food it should be pretty easy - just find a palce and ring and ask. Most of them will probably use similar suppliers that are halal for chicken.

If you want something else then it gets trickier and will depend where they source their meat from I guess.

I understood it's pretty darn difficult to find non-Halal chicken these days, or is that just one of those urban myths?

Akbars was a great shout guys, thank you very much! Also the one in Birmingham is much nicer than the one in Manchester, and has its own car park!
