been thinking for a while that an lp640 will be my next car, but as there are so few coming onto the market i've been looking at other options and a scuderia seems to tick a lot of the boxes, but i'm wondering about residuals and if they may take a dip once more 458s appear on the market? also did they have any desireable options that i should look for? i've never run a ferrari but it can't be much more painfull than a lambo (can it?) spin

I have been looking/test driving these for a little while. Seriously tempted but I also make depreciation quite a big part of my decision when buying cars.

I suspect the Scud's could hit bottom around £90-100k depending on mileage/spec. They certainly can't go lower than the most expensive F430's so keep an eye on the top of that market for an idea I guess.

I also think the above estimate will only occur once plenty of 458's are on the used market, which won't be for another year or two at least.... So if you buy well now around £120k-130k then you would be sitting perhaps on a £20-30k loss in 2-3 years time, which is about right for supercar terms? However if its a keeper longer than that then I don't think it will depreciate a whole lot more for a long time.

But what do I know, nobody will have the answer.

I am pretty sure that UH-Matt asked very similar questions only a few weeks ago.

The LP640 residuals have been very (surprisingly) strong, especially in comparison with the standard Murcielago.

How long are you thinking of keeping the car for and what sort of mileage would you be doing?

The Scud might take a bit of a dip but surely can't be much more otherwise they'll be at the same price as a 360CS, and the Scud is much much superior to the CS in every respect - and yes, I have had both before any CS lovers start....

i have kept my last two for 8 years each and lost virtually nothing on them, i know that was lucky but it makes residuals a big factor for me too, i just wonder if the scud prices could firm up like the stradales seem to have? i keep thinking as much as i love lambos is the 640 just too much of a handfull for todays roads i would use something smaller and nimbler much more than i used my diablo, on that basis i would guess i may do a couple of thousand miles a year.

Scud prices definitely will firm up, just a case of working out when you think that will be. Nobody can answer the question.

you say you have driven a scud how do they compare to a gallardo, i really liked a friends early egear car i drove sometime ago but have never been in any 430s.

I've been lucky enough to have had the 360CS,LP560 and LP640,now have a 16M and agree the Ferrari massively moves the game.
Then again the 458 is another level!!

Is is a bit if a handful? yes but that's the point. Is it compromised as a daily or even regular driver - definitely. That's what we love about Lambos isn't it? I make a point of driving mine as often as I can, I've done over 7000 miles a year since I bought it new.

If you do buy the 640, you won't be disappointed. From what I see around, residuals are pretty strong at the moment too.

Honestly worlds apart.

Just sold an 07 E-gear, thought it was the mutts nutts, but having test driven a Scud they are soooo soooo good! The gear change is amazing in comparison. That said the Scud was also a lot better than my old G in traffic! So smooth and easy to drive, fast or slow!
