Apprently somebody got shirty about the use of and wrote to PH (well it was rumoured there was a letter) so it got censored.

A few months ago there was quite a big thread about scum. Thing is, not one person said anything in defence of s, or even showed an issue with it.

thinking about it, censoring the word will work out quite well as no-one will know what they are talking about :P

Removing the whole lot means it's impossible to even know what people meant.

Not really, because there's another word meaning (amongst other things) 'cat' which could be mistaken.
I do agree, though, that blocking the whole word always makes me think of the 'C' word, as to my knowledge that's the only one where the first and last letters are also removed.
