Lost most of my dash lights

Hi, My S3 is kept in a lockup garage.

I have not started it up for about a month.

I went over a couple of days ago to run it, but would not start, battery flat (new bat last year).

Put it on charge, went over today, When I switched on the ignition no dash light come on except the battery light, but the car started straight away, but still no dash lights except battery light.

Any ideas.

I only have handbrake and batt on mine when starting.. Iirc only the v8 has oil ? What are you missing?

I believe there should be 2 lights for the hand brake, one from the switch on the lever and one from the reservoir level plus the battery light. Total 3 on start up

Normally when I switch the ignition on, I have an oil, ignition,battery and handbrake warning lights. After starting the engine and running oil, ignition light go out, rev engine over approx 2500 rev, the battery light will go out and handbrake when taking off handbrake.

At moment only have battery light, when I switch on ignition, after starting engine, and idling still only battery light rev up and that will go out.

Could I have an Ignition switch problem?

Didn't think S3 had an oil light (i've just fitted one to mine)?

Ignition and Battery are same, aren't they ?

H'brake and fluid level lights could be just bulbs gone or problem with the switch thats operated by the handbrake lever ?
Looking at the wiring diagram the other day when I was sorting my dash lights, its looks to me like there is a diode between those two lights so both come on with h'brake and just one with fluid loss ?
I'd try lifting the lid and float thingy out of the fluid reservoir with ign on, light should come on. May take a few seconds, float seems to hold some fluid, maybe to act as a damper to stop float bouncing and giving false alarm ?

Nope deffo just the two on mine I would like to add an oil one when I refurb the dash I will look into my missing brake fluid one. Gonna check for the existence of a sensor first.

The brake lever switch is under the faux leather cover and the one for fluid level is in the yellow press bit of the reservoir cap - this often sticks in the up position so doesn't light, if it has you can test it by turning ignition on and pressing the centre of the yellow, this forces the contacts together, you may need to wiggle it at first to remove any verdigris before it works.

It goes to show I have had my S3 for nearly four years and did not know that I did not have an oil light sorry.

Sorted problem, last year I did fit a new gear lever and hand brake gaiter, I must have disturbed the connection.
