New Griffith owner....well nearly!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to say hi as I have finally taken the plunge and bought a Griffith. For those who know Quinny I have bought his car, I have to say I have never had so much fun buying a car (I am now on my 14th!). I spent 3 1/2 hours looking over the Griff and getting loads of expertise from an absoloute gent! I pick it up at the weekend and can't wait. I have had a few interesting cars over the years starting with MG's (Midget and BGT) before moving onto a Lotus Europa which I still own (last years trip to the le mans classic)

Anyway I am based in the East Midlands so I am looking forward to meeting up with a few people at the next Chatsworth run.

btw can anyone suggest a decent 1/2 cover as want to avoid the inevitable leaks!

well done mate, you have bought one of the best sorted and cared for griffs out there, hope you enjoy it, and be sure to bring it to the griff growl this summer too.

Congratulations on your purchase, as I am sure you have worked out from speaking with Andy and the barrage of youtube videos his Griff is an incredibly very well cared for example.

I would be very surprised if Quinny's car does leak, having said that many garage stored cars do when stored outside as the issue is never picked up when stored inside. If it does then it is a simple case of renewing the roof seals. I had mine stored outside without a cover for over a year and it never leaked a drop.

I've been looking for a Griff for about a year and i have to admit I have found the hunt hard and at times really painfull. Traveling ages to view a car that is desctibed as "immaculate" to find out that it is actually a bit scruffy. I also had a look at one up at Hexham horseless carriages which was beautiful but really expensive (you are paying for the reputation though).

When I started to look at the video's of Andy's car on Youtube (I have watche most of them since I have met him) I new it was going to be a good un, I just hope I can look after it as well as he has. At least I have instuctional videos on my car to do just about everything!

If people let me know when the next run Is I will try to get along, at the moment I have a run planned from Brentwood to Audley end on the 24th and a run from bilbao home mid July, I can't wait!!!!

welcome to griff ownership,glad you posted up.Andy maintained my car up at his house since i met him and really maintained his to the highest order,without any corners cut.you have got your self a very well sorted car which many people regard as one of the better ones.I have driven it many miles and know Andy will be sad to see it go.It was seeing his car that made me buy mine five years ago,guess Andy showed you the underside on his ramp its superb, and with its recent engine refresh should provide you with many many miles of hassle free T.V.R ownership.As the saying goes .The mans done good.If your picking it up saturday i may pop over in mine.Andys house is only a few miles from mine.As for concerns about roof its actually very nearly water tight ,we been caught out many times over the years and mine nor his has let any water in.Andys always treated his with renovate

Well....thanks to everyones advice and the promt spot on the classifieds I have bought the Leven cover. My view is that even if the roof doesn't leak it will help to keep the hood in good condition and keep prying eyes off it!

Ash-Man, I need to check the weather but the plan is to pick up from Andy about 1pm ish on Saturday, I will send you a PM to confirm, it would be really good to meet my first Griff owner.

Sounds interesting, what you planning to do, take a ferry down to Bilbao then drive back?

Thats the plan. My mates and I have done Le Mans for the last four years (two proper ones and two classics) and feel like we have done it now. Getting the ferry one way means that we can venture further. We will have a Datsun 240z, Triumph GT6, MGA and the Griff so a good group. I was supposed to be taking the Lotus but after cooking in it at Le Mans last year, the fact my girlfriend wont go in it for more than two hours and the fact ill have the TVR it is definately staying at home!

no prob if not working will see you their..its not unusual for graham to turn up in his griff at Quinnys on a Saturday so you may get to meet two of us.Take care,guess you looking forward to collection.Makes no difference now you already purchased it but think it would be very hard to find a better car,i doubt any at the higher price categorys drive any better and that alot of them advertised would be put to shame by the preperation of andys car.it really is in superb order.And having purchased it off Andy he will always be very helpfull in advising you on the cars future maitenance
