I'm looking for a second opinion here (and FD are closed..).

When I fill out a quote (On gocompare.com or Fluxdirect.com) for a 1.6 Eunos I get back a quote from Flux Direct that is about £4k cheaper than anyone else. The insurer comes up as "Equity Red Star - Jap Import Scheme".. I then noticed that when getting the quote the box to declare the car as imported wasn't selected, and once I do select it the quote will no longer show up, it only shows the expensive quotes. Also when I do it direct of FD's website it comes up an error saying that someone from their team needs to call me before quoting..

Would anyone say that this 'imported' box could affect the quote.. Or would I be safe in saying that quoting for a Japanese model, and automatically being put onto a Jap Import Scheme is enough that they are aware the car is an import?

I'm planning on sorting a car this weekend, so I need to figure out what way this will play out..

As said, I will give FD a call in the morning.. But any input is appreciated..

Cheers

Sounds like they have a specialist scheme with ERS that has a 'glitch' in it. Providing you have filled in all your details correctly and can buy online, then you are perfectly entitled to buy your insurance cover. If they pick up on it as an error, then they're in the wrong to correct it.

I went through to the very end of the quote; Still listed as a Eunos and still on the Jap Import Scheme.. There was also a box about being a member of a car club, which took the quote down almost £200.

Hello, this sounds a bit odd that it would not quote but the ERS Jap scheme will only quote for Jap import models so it should be ok if you have quoted as a Eunos (the scheme knows its a jap)
