The usual questions about 'safety' cameras plus a comments box. I don't suppose they take much notice of non PC answers - but what the hell!

There was some discussion of this on another forum. It seems that you have to keep your reply (including all the 'y's & 'n's to less than 255 characters.

As most of you will know, Lincs were one of the six English counties taking part in the unsuccessful speed camera trial which was stopped after one year because the DfT found they could spin the failures as success, either by including fatalities within the KSI figure or exploitng upward blips in the stats for 1999.

During the trial, Lincs fatalities dropped from 104 in 1999 to 72 in 2000 following an upward blip in the figures for 1999.

The figure of 72 was simply a reversal to previous numbers.

Figures from 1993 to 2000 were: 76 84 83 79 77 83 104 72. So no camera effect there.

However, since 2001, with even more more speed traps, there have been increases in deaths every year. Starting at 2001, we have 88 deaths, 2002, 91 deaths and last year there were 103 deaths.

And still they claim "cameras save lives".

In this case they are not checking the validity of the characters input. by putting a single quote ' character in you effectively break the sql command as this denotes the start of a string.

This is a case of very poor programming, simply replacing all single quotes with 2 single quotes would fix this particular problem.

cheers

Hardly surprising they have so many accidents in the area. I don't often travel thru but if you do want to overtake you have to be very careful and do it properly. The roads are a delightful throwback to the time when road planners didn't level or straighten everything out. It means if you don't have the experience you can get caught out. Some of the locals seem to forget how challenging they are now and again and get caught out themselves. Familarity bleeding contempt???

Lincolnshire.. with a little bit of Cambridgeshire for good measure.

Peterborough, out to Stamford via Barnack. On to Bourne, via Ryall. Turn left through to Corby Glen and then to Grantham via the Bitchfields.

Turn left at the roundabout and head to Colsterworth. 200 yards on the A1 and the lap comes back the same way in reverse.

Fast bits, twisty bits, but it all needs a bit of respect.

I know that route too I used to live in Lincolnshire before all the speed limit reductions and cameras.

One of the problems was the 90 degree fen road corners that people missed... There were usually no chevrons

I remember doing A1 Colsterworth to home (Billinghay near Sleaford) in under half an hour when I got the Impreza In my defence, it was 2 in the morning...
I even stuck to all the 30 and 40 limits

As you say - good challenging roads.
