MK1 Golf GTI BBS?

Morning all!

When working on the 205 yesterday, i was approached by a chap in the street asking if i would be interested in his mk1 golf (with a bbs body kit and extras)
I have no idea about mk1's and their limited editions, so was abit cautious but it seems a good deal.
can you point me in the direction of a good resource on mk1 golfs and their details? numbers of production etc etc? VIN Id's etc etc

from what he said the description was:
MK1 Golf (silver)
BBS body kit (factory fitted) - which is apparently very rare
BBS Exhaust

was there a BBS edition mk1 golf? if so why was it different?

Mainly centred round the BBS wheels, not much info but I found this pic:


Plenty of mentions about BBS wheels but it isn't a feature of most definitive Golf GTI histories so it seems to be an appearance package more than anything else.

As said above Mk1 Owners Club has some amazingly knowledgeable people on it.

I think BBS did dealer fit options and not factory options though from memory. What is the spec / colour / condition and price. The places to watch are rusted through boot floors and rear corners, rusted front panels, sunroof channels and fuel filler necks.

Other than that just the ususal stuff you'll expect from a 30 year old ragged hot hatch!!!
