Secs sells

Seen a billboard or two with something that looked like a chinese knockoff of the smart roadster.

The first thing that came into my mind is that the slogan and the body are promising something that they can't deliver.

so two questions:

1. what was it?
2. what is the 0-60 times ont he top engine?

Its the Renault wind, and the 'secs' reference is about the roof speed not 0-60.

Oh, my apologies, I never had a convertible in my life so didn't realise that the speed of "conversion" is a major factor when choosing one.

Comes with either the Twingo 1600 or the 1.2 TCE also from the Twingo/Clio

Have driven both engines and they're great little cars. Based on the Twingo RenaultSport so has heafty brakes and a stiff chassis. Very girly looking though and not sure I'd buy one. Excellent car for posing around the city in for a girl.

The secs sells bit refers to the roof, which really does open/close in just 12 seconds (not that I timed it you understand!).

9.2s 0-60 for the 1.6 133bhp version. It's a previous-gen Clio underneath, bit of a shame they couldn't put the Renaultsport 182 engine in there.

I really don't see why anyone would consider these when for the same money you could get a 1.8 MX5. I know the MX5 isn't everyone's cuppa but if you're in the market for a convertible, it's a better bet than this thing.

I imagine these are a lower insurance group though.

I'd only consider one at 4-5 years old when it's worth 20p, not new.

Assuming you want a folding hard-top, you're looking at a smidge under £20k for the base 1.8 MX-5 RC, which is slower than the 1.6 Wind that costs under £16k. As well as costing less to tax, the Wind is more economical and cheaper to insure too.

I have no idea why everyone bangs on about the new MX5's... they're stupid money!!

I really like the Wind... I've been trying to get my mrs to look at them but she's not having any of it... if it's anything like an RS Twingo to drive it seems a great little car... Most women would like to pose in one and if they're fun to drive and I could forgive the image of it when I drove it.
