need help

Hi , just bought my first Tuscan from PH. But I need some help.
The car was the Tuscan S from Someone in Mansfield.
We agreed on the price, and I made a deposit by bank transfer. But as soon as he received the deposit he text me, sorry I just sold the car to somebody else.
Now he wont respond to mails, text or phone. I only want the deposit back !
What to do now?

If it was advertised on PH maybe you need to report it to PH moderators and see if they have some contact info.

Hi Thanks, but really helpfull would be an address. He was a member of the TVR club, or maybe the guy he sold it to still knows the address.

If he was/is a member of the TVRCC they would have his address. They would need it to send Sprint, the TVRCC magazine out to him. Drop them a message. Good luck and keep us informed of how you get on!

+1... i'm sure the PH bods would be happy to try to help. They would most likely not be able to give you any contact details directly... but if you have reported this to the Police then they could supply an email address to them?

The problem for me is I live in Holland ! So not very easy to pay him a visit, or go to the police.
Can you imagine he said he was afraid getting scammed by non UK buyers !
The deposit was not OK by Paypal but had to be a bank transfer. I thought its a TVR owner , a PH member nothing can go wrong. Paid the deposit and booked a flight with Easyjet for collection of the Tuscan. Then the textmessage ( not even a call !)Sorry sold to somebody else. I am glad I did not receive this on Midlands Airport on collectionday. I called him right away and he promised to refund the deposit and flightticket, but then all went quit.

I do business in the UK for 7 years now, and this has never happened to me.
I always thought the UK people are very trustworthy !

Sorry to hear about your 'trouble'.
Hope you get your deposit back. How long have you been waiting ? When did you pay him and has it cleared from your bank account ? Ask your bank if they can 'request' a reversal of funds.

It looks like he is known to the East Midlands TVRCC Region....

Yep thats the one ! Was a very nice looking car and a great price for a Tuscan S . I talked the price down a little, so I really cant blame him for selling for full asking price when a UK buyer is at his house instead of waiting for a Dutch buyer. But if you do so refund the deposit I made and its all done for me !
Its only 250 UK Pounds deposit and the 50 for the flight he owns me, so no big problem, but its to much to just let go !

Money went out of my account on 24-02-2011 ( I even had extra cost for speed transfer ) Total was 325 euro

I would contact the TVRCC and the East Midlands R.O and let them know he is, as they say in sport, bringing their name into disripute (if that's how you spell it).. they might persuade him to make good the deposit and your costs...
