Random question here, I suppose it's more "is it worth reporting".

I got tailgated last night by a brand spanker large executive vee-hic-yule, no real issue there, happens a lot so I pulled over and just let it past. It was a nice car though, and I was curious however anoraky it is as to whether it was a proper petrol effort, or a TDi.

It definitely wasn't a Citroen Relay van though, which is what MyCarCheck says it was, and the DVLA Vehicle Excise site. It's not showing as insured, and it wasn't a private plate so it's not likely/possible that the plate has just been transferred.

Worth reporting to the police? I've seen it again this morning, so I'm 100% sure I've got the plate right, and it's a pretty expensive car, so I suppose I'm thinking it's entirely possible it's stolen?

May be worth advising traffic police. Police have intelligence on certain cars and it is possible it may be a drug dealer's car trying to avoid ANPR detection though surely that would register as uninsured so it doesn't really make sense.

Of course, it may just genuinely have the wrong plate on it - I once had a car with two different plates front and rear (numbers in wrong order)and didn't notice until years later when I was looking at photos.

Yeah, last thing I want to do is waste anybody's time, and I'm sure the DVLA make errors etc, but at the same time the car is worth around £50,000, and if it was mine and nicked I'd want someone to report it lol.

It's got matching front and rear plates, I checked that just incase.
