I've been having a clear out recently and I've came across an old Seiko 5 watch that used to belong to my dad.

I'm thinking of getting it serviced, as it has stopped working, and a decent bracelet so I can start wearing it.

The question is, is it actually worth servicing? If so has anybody any ideas where I could get it done?

Thanks

Watch in question:

You could just buy a working Seiko 7009 watch of Ebay and transplant the working movement.

Hope that helps.

Would probably cost the same for anyone who isn't you, Bry! RyteTime can do the service. The question is whether the cost of the service is greater than the sentimental value as that watch would be worth about £20 on ebay if it worked and the cost to fix it would be maybe £50-100.

If £100 was the cost of getting it sorted then I'd pay up in a blink. I've a few things of my Dad's and while they're next to sod all in terms of monetary value I'd do pretty much anything to keep them in good nick.

http://www.rytetimewatchrepairs.co.uk/ then. (Unless Bry was suggesting he would have a go?)

Cheers for the info

up to £100 seems fine for me, I'll give Rytetime a call.

Bry,scratchchin not sure I'd want to try & replace the movement myself.
