In taking my S1 through controle technique here in Luxembourg (basically a more glorified version of the MOT, only two locations to go through) I have been given an obligation to affix my battery before next year (weird, they did not pick this up last year but that's another issue).

Basically the battery sits on / in a lipped metal pad without any form affication. Even with a perfectly snug fit battery this is not acceptable and I will fail next year if I don't get it sorted.

Any ideas?

Separately, the rear view out of my hood is basically zero. As I like to drive the car as often as possible this creates some problems in bad weather. Any ideas on where to get a replacement.

And finally, is it just me or are the windscreed wipers really slow. In anythign otehr than gentle rain mine are next to useless. Have put up with this for 15 months but in the recent rain wasn't very pleasant.

thanks

Andrew

For the battery, maybe just wrap a nylon strap around it. Like a ratchet strap from an outdoor shop.

W/wipers sound normal!

Strap for the battery

Wipers usless bit of kit on an "S"

Rear screen try some autoglym polish (if you can get it over there) or some renovo screen treatment. This will remove light scratches and cloudyness

Battery: The original fixing is useless. I use a 1" ratchet strap, available from DIY stores.

Wipers: Also fairly useless. Get some Rain-X

Wipers, take the mechanism apart and rellace the motor that drives it. You can get one from a classic mini. It is a std Lucas part. You can't simply replace the whole thing. You need to take out the geariing and the drive wire thing as they are specific to the car. A ne motor will set you back by £190.
