Is there an easy way?

I have scored it, put on wallpaper remover, and left it for 10 mins to soak. But it comes off sparingly and in tiny little patches - it's taken me about an hour to do about 3ft square!!!

So, as above, is there an easy way?

I think you peel the vinyl layer off first, leaving bare paper behind, then wet and scrape that off.

Yup, what simpo says, take the vinyl layer off first then wet the bottom layer with some water with a little washing up liquid squirted into it. Just done a room like that and it comes off a treat

The face of some cheapo vinyl paper's only come off in tiny bits - sometimes it'll peel off better in different directions.

But as has been said.....

Perseverance!

Yep, it's the trying to get the f****ng vinyl off that is the problem !!!

The stuff underneath comes off beautifully thanks to wallpaper remover liquid!

Try one of those scrapers with a razor blade in it.

Or just paper over it smile

Use a steamer. Dead easy.

Don't even try - it won't stick to it unless you use copious amounts of Overlap Adhesive which is hideously expensive for the amount you'd need.

I think you were joking, anyway wink

Even with Vinyl?

Ok, I will take a look - and the scraper is not a bad idea but I was worried about digging dirty great holes in the wall....As I will be painting it.

That's the problem with vinyl - it's pretty impermeable so a steamer may not help much.

This should do it - the angled blade means that you shouldn't dig into the wall.

And you shouldn't use a steamer on drylined walls should you?

You could key it with an orbital sander... actually that might do the trick anyway, allowing moisture through to the glue layer...

Polyfiller and lining paper. Once you've lined it, get a fine sandpaper/wet 'n' dry and sand over the joints of the paper lightly. Did this in my kitchen in my old house and it was as though it had been newly plastered even though there were half inch thick gouges under the filler!!
