Cycling from Kent to Cornwall - Trying to plan route....
Discussion
Hello,
I am in the process of organising a charity ride from Kent(maidstone area) to Newquay in September for the Alzheimer's Society. There are about 10-15 of us doing the ride and so plan to do approx 75 miles a day over 4 days. I am just starting to plan the route but was hoping for a bit of advice/suggestions of the best route to take. We will most likely ride to Farnham or Liphook on day 1 and then probably Winchester/Salisbury/Exeter/Newquay. Has anyone ridden a similar route? Or if people are familiar with these areas is there anywhere I should be looking to aim for or avoid?
Thanks for your help....The route should be the easy bit, the hardest bit is getting people to actually train for it!

Feel free to correct me, but I'd thought a bit of time with terrain maps on Googlemaps would be useful. Devon and particularly Cornwall are pretty up-and-down, and since they're the last bit, people will be getting tired by then...
Doing an extra 5 miles of flat would be preferable to going up and down a couple of big hills, but that's cos I'm shoite in the hills...

Sorry, on road!
I have been playing around with mapmyrun & google maps and have a few ideas so far.I may even drive there in a couple of months time as an excuse for a night away, just to see what the roads are like. I will probably encounter most of the 2 million potholes on the way!
I am comfortable going out on say a 65-70 mile ride but am not sure how thats going to feel after a few days!

Well I would personally be trying to avoid busy roads so would do something like Maidstone to Tun Wells and then pick up the A264 and then the A272 at Billingshurst to Winchester. Then Salisbury and pick up the A30 until it goes dual carriageway at Exeter, then cross country over Dartmoor to Tavistock and then pick up A390 down to Truro
