Yep.

I always used to look longingly at the ads for 'Minder' kits for Mk2 Escorts and X-Pack kits for Capris smile

Yeah, I used to buy that when I was 15 or 16 and a bit older now and then.

Got the issue with the TR8 on the cover somewhere, but the one I remember is the track test of the Porsche 936 and 935 Moby Dick by Derek Bell.

Always was my favourite mag, mostly "go" with a bit of tasteful "show" and stuffed full of writers who were experts first.

Happy days. I remember having a copy with a stunning Alfa GTV6 owned by Ronnie Chong - Project2 Motorsports.
Does anyone remember GTS Magazine?

Does anyone remember a tuned SD1 Rover - I think it was registered DPR 10 and built by Dave Price Racing?

This one in fact! http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ge...

Made me want an SD1 for years after and I nearly put an offer in for it when it was sold decades later (albeit a bit tattily).

The mix of these tastefully (and usually professionaly) modified cars and race and rally cars made it an interesting mix.

It was always a bit heavy going for me. Preferred Practical Motorist which showed you how to do mechanics on a car - that's actual stripping of engines and fixing stuff.

Too true. Excellent quality motoring journalism.

Yup - remember it well. I bought a Rapide 130R many years later with the intention of doing something like that. Failed miserably through lack of time/effort/ and the discovery that mine had a cracked head to start with......

If anyone wants any CCC mags, I'm fairly certain that I have a loft full of them from the 70s.

Anyone remember the Rally challenge that they used to do? Mate of mine did quite well in the series two years running; Kid Currie, where are you now? I used to do your publicity photos.

Another ex-CCC reader. Wasn't it the product of an amalgamation between Car magazine and Car Conversions mag hence the title?

I used to read this years ago, browsing all the adverts for K&N filters, Janspeed exhausts, etc. Funny thing is 25 years later I'm still doing that, but using the internet instead of CCC. smile I also used to love to read Car and specifically the writings of LJK Setright.

i thought ppc was ccc reborn. certainly some of the staff are and dave vizard recently did a piece on his old ccc project fiesta.

imo, ccc was miles better than ppc. excellent classifieds too.

dave walker, not vizard

vizard has done some articles for ppc, good magazine, nice guys

was wandering a car show in battlesbridge in the summer, and found a binder with a whole years worth of ccc in perfect condition, £5 later it was mine!

then had to explain to the wife how £5 of old magazines could give me such a silly grin...

Superb magazine in it's day IMO, shame it stopped. I believe I have a copy of the last issue printed, and around 2-3 years worth in total up to then, sat at my parent's house.

If anyone does want them, feel free to PM me, I'd been thinking of offloading them, rather they went to a good home.

C&CC was the ONLY car mag I bought for years, probably from 16ish. My favourite section was always The Clinic, where they gave advice on how to improve a cars handling & performance.

Yup Clive Trickey, Terry Grimwood, Dave Vizard, Andy Dawson, Paul Davies. To name a few great motoring writers.
I remember the DVA; Dave Vizard Anglia racer, Grimwoods 750 racer project. I learnt a massive amount from CCC about cars.
Towards the end it became a track day orientated mag. And no PPC is in no way a good comparison!
