I'm off to bournemouth for the weekend on what will be a tame stag do, activities are sorted for the day but we haven't 100% decided on where to eat a drink.

Staying in the Premier Inn out at Westcliff so friday night looking for somewhere local to the hotel for reasonable food and a nice environment to have a few beers in, any suggestions?

Saturday night we were looking at heading to a place called indian ocean and then into town for a bit more of a big night out, anyone tried and recommend the Indian Ocean or not?

Any recommendations for bars in town?

Ok where to start. When you say tame stag do I assume you really do mean tame and so will direct you accordingly. From the Travelodge you will have to get a taxi to the town centre or its about a 10 min walk.

Indian Ocean is ok, you could do worse, I have always preferred Eye of the Tiger on Old Christchurch Road.

So thats food for one night sorted, i shall assume you have a reasonable eating budget so you could try West Beach (fish) which is on the beach just down from the Oceanarium or alternatively you could go for SteakOut (mans food and really good too, ribs are to be recommended

For drinking you could do worse than Aruba (Aruba also does food, i'm not a big fan though they profess to be premium), BarSo, 1812 and 60 Million Postcards (all in the same area but Aruba is at the land end of the pier).

If you want a less classy (read loose young ladies) you could ask a taxi to take you to Walkabout, Bar:Me, Sherbet (Sherbet is really good)or to head to the Lava:Ignite (biggest club in town).

If i were you i'd be eating in SteakOut, heading across the road for a cocktail in 1812, on to 60 Million Postcards for a couple of beers and then head towards Aruba and finally on to Smokin Aces 'whiskey lounge'

Im sure many are going to disagree with me.

Eye of the Tiger is miles better than Indian Ocean. Been there many times. Other option is Chinese at Ocean Palace up the hill from the BIC. Excellent food there but sometimes you do feel the staff are rushing you. Other than those two places i wouldnt say anywhere else was that special.

As for friday night, try the Olive Branch in Wimborne. Very nice food in a chilled atmostphere. Other options are, Wagamama on Westover Rd (i love the food there) and Tapas Plus down by the Gardens. Excellent Sapnish food with good Spanish beer.

Thanks so much for the replies,

gives us a few idea's to choose from, now just the hassle of getting 10 people to agree on which to go to.

A man after my own heart there!

Be aware you have to get there early to get a seat!

And make sure you have a full wallet. Can easily spend a bomb in there lol.

Funki Sushi opposite the bic is Really nice aswell.

This is fairly accurate. Though Little India opposite Eye of The Tiger, do a better Ruby.

SteakOut is rubbish and over-priced.

You wont get into 60million if its a bank holiday weekend without a "regulars card", a ruse by the pub to keep out large groups of blokes from oop north (stag dos).

After Aruba I would suggest Klute or the Casino or FYEO biggrin Or all three.

ETA: this weekend isnt a bank holiday, 60million should be fine.

On Friday night, share a Taxi to Ashley Cross for a good crowd or Charminster for more bars but dodgy crowd. Or Westbourne to the Westbourne Hotel, The Taj Mahal (Best Curry in Bournemouth) and then Soho for reasonable crowd and bar.

Last time I went in 60 million postcards, they had a jumble sale, make if that what you will. Aruba is cool, go there quite a lot in the summer, don't like 1812 myself, the Mary Shelley can be OK, but very busy at the weekends. Enjoy.
