I have owned a couple of CSL's and will probably get another at some point, in the meantime however I am looking for something a bit more road focussed that the kids can ride in etc.

I was watching Jay Leno drive the E90 M3 on his site and he said the exhaust was a little quiet, I have had my fair share of nice noisy cars/Tubi's etc but don't need anything too mad in the day to day car.

Is it too quiet? it is nice to get a noise when you are pressing on a bit...

I found it way too quiet after 996 with Milteck and TVR T350 with blueflame systems. Guess I'm a little deaf after using these as daily drivers.

I fitted a Remus Race to my e92 M3 and love it although some of the neighbours don't.
Perhaps a Remus Sport or Milteck would be a better compromise. If you are near Manchester you are welcome to come have a listen etc

I picked this up last weekend:

Having previously owned a C63 AMG I would say yes the M3 is a little muted.
It's a much more understated car however when you start to make progress it does sound a little better.

Thank you, I am in London but we seem to be on the same page, perhaps a little more noise would make it more special as you say

Amar how does the M3 compare with the C63?

Have considered one but never had a merc before.
Fuel consumption similar?
Gear box decent?

Thanks

Exhaust is too quiet

But the induction noise is pretty addictive, drop in a BMC Filter and it just makes it that little bit better

Getting my Milltek fitted in 2 weeks, so ill let you know how i get on

Beware that the e90 Saloon will have a slightly different length of exhaust to the e92 Coupe, so you have to find a specific one, or more likely get someone to adapt a coupe one. smile

That was the situation when I had mine anyway, at the time there weren't any specific ones available as the M3 saloon had only been out for a few months.

If i'm honest I really wanted to buy another C63 AMG but having seen the facelift model at the Geneva motorshow it did not make sense paying £40k for one now with the facelift model literally round the corner.

Fuel consumption is very similar, they both like a drink when making swift progress.
I liked the gearbox on the Merc, rarely used the paddles used to just stick in in D and drive. The M3 i've bought is has the DCT box, I have driven a manual M3 and did not gel with it. 1st to 2nd was a bit awkward but i'm led to believe they all do that.

I prefer auto's and have gone off manual cars i'm getting older and lazier.

The C63 looks awesome and has presence the M3 can only dream off. The M3 is a much more understated car. It sounds muted compared to a C63. One of the best sounds ever is listening to a C63 start up on a cold day.

The interior on the C63 is a bit of a let down, mainly the top half of the dash. They have however rectified this with the facelift model, it's a massive improvement on the outgoing model. It has fantastic seats though which are very supportive.

The M3 drives, steers and handles better than the Merc no question about it.
You really need to drive one and you'll know straight away if it's for you or not.
However what is imperative is that you drive one that has the Performance Pack fitted and the LSD (AMG diff lock), trust me it like driving a completely different car without those two options fitted.
