I've an idea regarding fitting some DRL's to my project and was after some comments to see if its a goer or a nonstarter. I've made some front side lights and indicators using land rover defender lights. (images on scoobystorm.tumblr.com) I was thinking of swapping the side light one for a stop and tail light unit, replacing the bulb with a clear led stop and tail light equivelent and putting the clear lens back on.
The stop light becomes the DRL and the tail light becomes the side light (or position light)
Then to wire the "DRL" light to come on with the ignition and the "side" light to come on using a permanent live using the usual switch. To then use a relay to switch the stop light off when activating the side light switch. I would also like to wire it to switch to the side lights when activating the indicators by wiring the indicator circuit through the relay as well.
Hope this makes sense, if there are possible IVA issues then I am happy to complete this work post IVA
I'm desparate to keep lights etc to a minimum and don't like the bolt on DRLS that are available hence this approach, Any thought or comments would be gratefully recieved.

As I mentioned I am desparate to keep lights to a minimum not nessecarily for DRL's especially if there is no tidy or integrated way of putting them on the car. I would rather not fit then at all if they are the bolt on chavvie barryboy type. They are here to stay and arguably offer a lttle more safety in terms of higher visability to other road users, I would much prefer to fit them so they are an integrated part of the car rather than a Halfrauds add on.
