throttle cables

Could anyone confirm if 2.8 and 2.9 cables are different (I suspect they will be)?

Cant help realy as I made my own one up! But did alter the pedal connection to a clevis bracket a pin arrangment. Has been no roblem since fitting 4,000 miles ago. The reason they fray and brake, is that as you push down on the pedal you try to bend the cable to about 15% at the pedal end, Not healthy for something that is supposed to pull in a straight line.

Not sure if this is good enough, but Houdini would be better suited to getting pic's. The parts for this were stolen from a friendly RAC man who carts about in his van, a cable repair kit!" but you can purchase these parts from Auto Factors. The cable is smaller in diameter than the original so will actualy flex easyer within the original outer cable. The clevis body retaining screw just fits through the original hole in the pedal shaft, and is secured by 2 M5? nuts. I did however have to put a slight set in the pedal shaft to give extra clearance between the clevis and bulkhead. But as you can see the cable is always pulled in a straight line and not bending as the angle of the throttle bar changes If you need any further info email me for my Tel No

What happens at the other end Ray to replace the ball and socket arrangement ?

Used the same type of ball & socket, In truth the whole system would be better if a ball and socket was used at both ends, but would mean drilling down into the pedal shaft to fix it. So not realy worth all the extra work. But wouldnt it make changing cables easy
