Remapped 530d E39 Sport - smokey..............
Discussion
Hello All
Have had my E39 M Sport 530d remapped recently by a reputable company
Car is transformed (have not had too much of an aggressive map fitted)but I do notice some increased Black smoke on full bore acceleration, particularly when the turbo comes on song
Smoke is not white or Blue - def black so I am assuming turbo is ok
The remap company did tell me to expect some extra black smoke as there is increased fuelling resulting in increase soot. Is this right????
Anyone else have this issue?
PS - it only happens on full bore acceleration - no issue when pootling around
Cheers
Simon

It can happen, for big power, diesels run richer and waste some fuel as smoke and make power with the rest.
It's even getting fashionable with the kids to have smoke.
From the factory, they are usually programmed to keep the fuel level below the point of making smoke, but when turned up, it can cross into that range.
If it's too much, have a word with the people who did it and tell them to knock it back a notch.
There's a chance it'll make slightly less maximum power, but it won't be particularly noticable.
